The 2009 Summer in Little Italy festival, presented by the Little Italy Merchants Association (LIMA), will begin on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at 1 PM – the start of Memorial Day Weekend (May 23/24/25) with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony marking the Opening of the Mulberry Street Pedestrian Mall and a free concert featuring Tre Bella and The Red Mike Festival Band, Little Italy’s renowned traditional Italian brass band. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was attended by Ralph Tramontana, President of LIMA), several LIMA officers, NYC Councilman Tony Avela, Zella Jones, a member of Manhattan’s Community Board 2, John Fratta, President of the Little Italy Restoration Organization, and other community leaders. |

| San Gennaro Festival | Calendar of Events | |
New York’s biggest, most famous and longest running religious feast festival – the 82nd Annual Feast of San Gennaro – will take place in Little Italy for 11 days starting Thursday, September 10, and continuing through Sunday, September 20, 2009. The Feast is presented annually by Figli di San Gennaro, a not-for-profit community organization that has produced and operated the Feast since 1996. The Official Feast Day is Saturday, September 19, when a Mass celebrating the martyrdom of San Gennaro, the Patron Saint of Naples, takes place inside Most Precious Blood Sanctuary on Baxter Street at 3 PM, followed immediately by a religious procession with the statue through the streets of Little Italy. |
